Happy Monday

I know that it's mid-August and where I live, that guarantees at least another month and a half of hot weather. All the September magazines are rolling out featuring all that is gorgeous for the fall/winter. And while I certainly can't wear suede or massive scarves yet, I can start easing some fall makeup into my daily life.

For instance, I swapped out my summery, pineapple yellow toenail polish for a muted perfect blend of brown/purple/grey. It's gorgeous and already has me thinking cooler thoughts. Another option? Moving back to a lip stick or a lip stain as opposed to your current lip gloss or lip balm.

Need some more inspiration? Head over to major cosmetic sites like Smashbox (http://www.smashbox.com/), Tarte (http://www.tartecosmetics.com/), or even Urban Decay (http://www.urbandecay.com/) and take a peek at their fall cosmetics lines. I bet you thought only clothing designers had fall lines!! Nope! Cosmetics companies follow the trends, too.

(PS- Don't say I never gave you anything. M.A.C. Cosmetics is going to launch a Wonder Woman themed line of makeup in Spring of 2011. I might die of sheer happiness.)

Monday tips

Hello lovely readers. Did we all watch the Oscars last night? Wow! Lots to see and think about.

A few Monday goodies- You can save 15% on all skincare at http://www.philosophy.com/ with the code "skincare15". I recommend the Purity Made Simple face wash or The Micro-Delivery Weekly Peel.

Ulta will give you 2 free Urban Decay eye pencils with any $20 Urban Decay purchase on http://www.ulta.com/. Loving that!

Sephora has these super cool headbands made from wig hair (see above photo). It's a great way to pull your hair back and have it look really natural and sort of hippie-chic. They come in a pretty big range of colors and are affordable. I think they are a great addition to any spring wardrobe! Go to www.sephora.com to the Sephora Brand section and look under the 2010 Hair Trends section!

And now for something completely different...

Look! A blog about something other than hair products. I can feel your excitement through the screen.

So, I know I've talked about primers before. You know- it's like spackle for your face. The main purpose for using a primer is to smooth out the surface of your skin so that your makeup can adhere to it better and it also creates a more flawless finish. Well, did you know there are different types of primers?? You can get them in moisturizing, mattifying, oil control, etc, etc. But! My current favorite is made by Urban Decay. They call their product "Complexion Primer Potion." The variety I tried and subsequently loved was the "Brightening" formula (shown above). Now, I don't know about you all, but my skin is certainly in need of a pick-me-up. Winter dullsville. I got a sample of this stuff and was intrigued. Could something that was going underneath all my makeup really going to make any kind of a difference? Pfffft.

How glad am I that I tried it! I don't know what kind of fairy dust is in this stuff. But, my skin just looked...happier. Like I'd had a bunch of sleep and been to a spa or something. The good news is that even if you don't wear foundation normally, you can still use a primer to help even out your skin. This stuff would look wonderful on anyone since it's colorless.

So, if you're short on sleep/energy/awake-looking-skin, definitely look into this stuff! You can get it at http://www.urbandecay.com/ or http://www.sephora.com/.
