Something to drool over

Fall/Winter 2010 is bringing in a wave of lady-like loveliness. Gone are the slouchy t-shirts and torn leggings and slapped together looks. The look is definitely more "done" than it has been in some time. (And I, for one, could not be happier!)

Anywho, I don't think it's a coincidence that during this emergence of elegance that Burberry is releasing its first beauty line. They are starting small with a few keys pieces. The idea behind it was to look classically cool. Just like their iconic trench coat. What do I love the most? They put their trademarked plaid design on all the cosmetics!! (See the lipstick above- how gorgeous is that?)

Keep in mind that this is Burberry which of course means not cheap. But, it sure is pretty and if nothing else, it's something amazing to admire. Of course, if you are flush with cash, you can run to your nearest Nordstrom, or Burberry if you're across the pond, and purchase a beautifully crafted tube of lipstick for only $30.

I know, I know- it's kind of a splurge...

...BUT, I promise it's worth it.

In the spring/summer, my lip color of choice is usually some type of sheer berry shade. If it has a balm texture, then I am even more all about it. I don't know about y'all, but my lips can get chapped just as easily in the summer as they can in the winter. That sun is VICIOUS! Keep that in mind. So, today I wanted to introduce you to Bobbi Brown's Treatment Lip Shine. This stuff is the trifecta of goodness! Perfect level of color, not too sheer, not too dark. It is LOADED with moisturizers and vitamins to keep lips soft and healthy. And, it's SPF 15. I mean, does it get much better or easier? Um, no!

If you have a Bobbi Brown counter near you, go try on a few shades and see which one you like best. You can see all the colors on her website http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/. These are unde the "what's new" tab. Colors I would recommend are "Berry", "Raspberry Pink", "Papaya", and "Sunset Bronze". There is also a clear version for those of you who don't want any color.

I'm such a sucker

Ooohhhhh, there are few things I love better than a tee-tiny fabulous print. If it's a floral print, even better. If it's a retro floral tee-tiny print, forget it. I'm done. Hence why I LOVE M.A.C.'s newest line where they've paired up with the uber-cute Liberty of London (see the lipstick above. How cute is that case????). http://www.maccosmetics.com/ The colors are so 1960's perfect, but very wearable. The good thing is that they offer very soft neutral shades for those who like to stay on the safe side. For people like yours truly, there are some "notice me" colors, too!!!

Too recommends the following from the collection:
Tinted Lipglass in Perennial High Style

Lipstick in Peachstock

Eye Shadow in Bough Grey

Nail Laquer in Blue India

Seriously counting the days

There are 2 days in the year that I really look forward to. March 1 and September 1. Why? Well, I consider March 1 the day I can officially break out the spring makeup and September 1 is when I can break out the fall makeup. Do I occasionally cheat? Of course. But, hey, who am I hurting, really???

I am easing into my fall colors this week with a neat lipstick trick that I LOVE to use. Now, I NEVER wear lipstick in the spring or summer. I just don't. I am a hard core gloss girl. I usually even wear darker glosses in the fall and winter. But, once in a while I do like to break out the lipsticks and I will be doing so more frequently this year after discovering that great lipstain effect I talked about in a previous blog.

Anywho, onto my trick. See if you like this one. First, put on a LIGHT layer of lipbalm. I usually put some on my lower lip and then rub my lips together. Second, dab on the lipstick color of your choice. I went with a berry this morning. Rub lips together and then blot gently with a tissue. Apply one more dabbing of the lipstick. Voila. The color of a lipstick with the sheerness/hydration of the lip balm. The beauty of this is that through out the day, you can just alternate which you put on next. Slap on a little more balm the next time, and then dab on some more color a little later. Keep rubbing your lips together to keep the look soft and natural.

Try it and see what you think!
