Ok, go with me on this one...

When I was a kid and we'd play pretend, there were many occasions where I didn't want to be the princess. I didn't want to be the "star". I can't tell you how many times I said "I don't want to be Annie. I want to be Miss Hannigan. She's the funny one!" And think about it- before more recent Disney movies, the evil queens and fairies were pretty darn fabulous. High cheekbones. Red lips. Green eyeshadow. Mmmmm...now you're speaking my language!

Thank goodness the makeup geniuses at M.A.C. feel the same way I do! They are now offering a "Venomous Villians" line based on 4 fabulous baddies! (http://www.maccosmetics.com/whats_new/3883/index.tmpl)
I LOVE this!!! Maleficent's eye shadows are SICK and don't even get me started on the lip glasses!!

Take a minute to peruse all the choices. I think you may find something that inspires the bad girl in you...

Make it stick

Do you like darker eye shadows? Eye shadows with sparkle? But don't particularly like it when they travel during the day to under and around your eyes? Good news- M.A.C. makes this cool stuff called Prep and Prime Eye. This light cream can be applied all over the eyelid to even out skin tone and help hold your makeup in place. My favorite use is to apply it after I've put on my eyeliner and mascara. I wait till all that is dry and then apply a very light layer to each lid with my pinky. Then, I use a little sponge applicator if my shadow is particularly dark or sparkly or a small brush if it's not quite as dicey. The result? A more dramatic look that stays on for the long haul.

I'm such a sucker

Ooohhhhh, there are few things I love better than a tee-tiny fabulous print. If it's a floral print, even better. If it's a retro floral tee-tiny print, forget it. I'm done. Hence why I LOVE M.A.C.'s newest line where they've paired up with the uber-cute Liberty of London (see the lipstick above. How cute is that case????). http://www.maccosmetics.com/ The colors are so 1960's perfect, but very wearable. The good thing is that they offer very soft neutral shades for those who like to stay on the safe side. For people like yours truly, there are some "notice me" colors, too!!!

Mae West was right

"I can resist anything except temptation." I know exactly what she means. I was innocently walking past the M.A.C. counter the other day when I saw THEM. These: http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT154&PRODUCT_ID=781

It was like this beam of light hit them and the angels sang. They are the COOLEST eyeshadows. The pictures online just don't even do them justice. I'm not kidding. I left with "Gilt by Association" and almost skipped out of the store. These eyeshadows are perfect for fall. Dramatic colors and a fantastic texture. If you use a tiny makeup brush, you can actually pick out the individual colors for application. Or, you can use a synthetic bristle brush, dampen it, and apply it that way for a dramatic look. GOR-JUSS!!!!

Since October is breast cancer awareness month, I'll be posting a beauty product that benefits breast cancer research on each new blog entry. Today's product is a lovely, flattering Essie polish: http://www.essieshop.com/yeswecanpink.php
Perfect on fingernails for an elegant, ladylike daytime manicure.

A little something I am currently loving

Now, I don't know if any of you have ever used M.A.C. makeup. I looooove it! It is amazing and comes in some great colors. I have an eye liner pencil that is just about perfect. It's in their Eye Kohl line and it's called "Teddy": http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT151&PRODUCT_ID=323

It's this fantastic medium brown with very subtle gold undertones in it. Somehow, it manages to look good on everyone. It makes blue eyes pop. It brings out the gold flecks in green eyes. And it makes brown eyes so nice and warm. It is the perfect neutral eyeliner on those days when you can't make up your mind which pencil to use. It also smudges to perfection!

Just a suggestion for your fall makeup bag...
