Love, looooooove

Anyone else love finding something they'd forgetten about? That was me this morning. I was digging under my sink and pulled out one of my lip gloss bags. (Yes, yes- I have more than one) And I pulled out my Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose. This stuff is heaven in a tiny pot. Now, I am not normally a fan of gloss-in-a-pot. But, I set aside my prejudice for this stuff. It is chock full of shea butter for moisturizing and rice wax for sealing in that hydration. I wore this stuff all day and was surprised to remember that it's pretty hardy stuff. It stayed on through my entire morning of drinking water, fading slightly to this cool kind of stain. Put it back on again after lunch and didn't have to re-apply until 6:00!

The best part is that it's so tiny, you can throw it in any sized bag and take it with you. Perfect for any Memorial Day gatherings you'll be visiting this weekend! You can order them directly from the Korres website (http://www.korres.com/), but for some odd reason, Sephora.com seems to have more color options.

The fabulous all in one product

Have we talked about this? Smith's Rosebud Salve? Ok, this stuff is bananas. Why? Well, first off, it's like $6. But, you can use it on (wait for it)- chapped lips, dry spots on your face, cuticles, fingernails, scrapes, scars, undereyes, knees, elbows, rashes, sunburns, split ends, etc, etc, etc.

I personally like to use mine at night on my lips and cuticles. Highly moisturizing and the smell is UNREAL. Like a fresh cut rose. It somehow manages to not be greasy, but do a great job at re-hydrating anything you put it on. It was also created to help soothe cuts and scrapes. So, feel free to use it on that, too. And, let's be honest, the cute retro tin that it comes in surely doesn't hurt, either. It's the perfect size to throw in your pocket and just go.

For my minimalist ladies

Ok, ok. I hear you. There are some of you out there who are saying "Look, Too. Enought with the crazy lip color recommendations. You're nuts. I just want something I can wear that is an all in one, natural looking color. Help a sister out."

Well, if this describes you or if you're looking for something you can toss in your pocket or purse for all day spring adventures, here are a few suggestions:

Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant in Honey- http://www.elizabetharden.com/. This stuff is sheer and comes in a light or dark shade, depending on your preference. It's incredibly moisturizing and makes your lips look soft and smooth for hours. Oh, did I mention it also has an SPF of 15?

Clark's Botanicals Lip Tint in Alexandra Rose- http://www.clarksbotanicals.com/. It softens. It shines. It's a fantastic natural lip color.

Burt's Bees Shiny Lip Gloss in Juicy Peach or Sweet Pink- http://www.burtsbees.com/. All natural, affordable, and these things smell unbelieveable.

Tarte Cosmetics 24-7 Lip Sheers- http://www.tartecosmetics.com/. You really can't go wrong with any of these shades. They are perfectly sheer and also have the SPF 15 added. Right now, they have essentially a buy-one-get-one-free with some pretty pink colors: www.tartecosmetics.com/tarte-item-pinks

If you live near a Target, go to the makeup section and look for Sonia Kashuk. She has a fantastic Sheer Lip Color and Plumping Glossy Tint that comes in several colors. Plus, you'll have the benefit of actually seeing/sampling the color before you buy it.

Happy sheer lip color hunting!

Yay Friday!

Easy weekend lip look? Yes please!

Lip balm+lip pencil= a cool sheer look that kind of turns into a stain the longer you wear it. Slap on a light layer of lip balm and then fill in your lips. You can blot if you like, but you shouldn't need it.

Seriously counting the days

There are 2 days in the year that I really look forward to. March 1 and September 1. Why? Well, I consider March 1 the day I can officially break out the spring makeup and September 1 is when I can break out the fall makeup. Do I occasionally cheat? Of course. But, hey, who am I hurting, really???

I am easing into my fall colors this week with a neat lipstick trick that I LOVE to use. Now, I NEVER wear lipstick in the spring or summer. I just don't. I am a hard core gloss girl. I usually even wear darker glosses in the fall and winter. But, once in a while I do like to break out the lipsticks and I will be doing so more frequently this year after discovering that great lipstain effect I talked about in a previous blog.

Anywho, onto my trick. See if you like this one. First, put on a LIGHT layer of lipbalm. I usually put some on my lower lip and then rub my lips together. Second, dab on the lipstick color of your choice. I went with a berry this morning. Rub lips together and then blot gently with a tissue. Apply one more dabbing of the lipstick. Voila. The color of a lipstick with the sheerness/hydration of the lip balm. The beauty of this is that through out the day, you can just alternate which you put on next. Slap on a little more balm the next time, and then dab on some more color a little later. Keep rubbing your lips together to keep the look soft and natural.

Try it and see what you think!
